Nick Deak was known as the “James Bond of Money” with a life story worthy of the comparison. Click here for the incredible background story of Deak. As a vocal critic of the US dropping the gold standard in 1971, Deak decided to take matters into his own hands with Gold Standard Corporation to produce these limited 1/20th fractional gold coins likely because it is the perfect “five piece” for barter.
Being auctioned is 10 PROOF 1/20th Nicholas L. Deak “Denationalization of Sound Money” gold coins totaling 1/2 troy ounce of pure gold. These were found in old staples flips that look like they haven’t been touched in dozens of years. Interestingly in the small hoard MineralX all the proofs were separated, stapled and found this way. With these 1980 Deaks already being a very limited mintage there is far less proofs out there.
Each coin has its denomination with “For Integrity There Is No Substitute” boldly written across the top. Made in 1980 just 5 years before Nick Deak was unfortunately assassinated in his New York headquarters in 1985.
MineralX is excited to bring what might be the most unique way to own fractional gold in your portfolio. Believed to have a very limited mintage of under 10,000 coins in 1980 (much less that were proofs) with many likely melted over the years, this is truly a unique opportunity to own rare vintage fractional gold.
