Only 1 serial number apart however serial 38535 was poured in a noticeably different mold size than all other 3rd series engelhard 3oz bars we’ve come across. It’s possible a mold from a different series was used for this chunkier 38535.
One of the distinctions of this 3oz variety is the “flat top 3s” in their serial numbers, more common varieties have the rounded 3s. On their own both bars are highly sought after by vintage poured silver collectors, the fact that they are only 1 serial number apart yet feature completely different molds makes this pair truly unique and a great addition to any engelhard collection.
