This extremely unique pair of Engelhard vintage silver bars may appear to be extruded however on close examination it has been determined that they are individually cast to be half-kilo class bars for roughly a kilo total. it is believed they were either taped together at the factory or shortly after as the weight is written as the total between the pair.
It is unknown whether these were made as a one-off set for a custom order or prototype of a new Engelhard stamp at that time. Due to the aging of the tape the 2 half kilo bars can be separated. Note on the bottom of the bars they were at some point drilled for purity or to place hangers for the industrial silver plating process.
